FOOTBALL: FA fine Steele £200 for comment
10:20am Thursday 16th February 2012

Former Oxford City player Lee Steele has been fined by the FA for a homophobic Twitter comment.
The ex-Oxford United and Leyton Orient striker, who wrote about gay former rugby star Gareth Thomas, admitted breaching two FA rules, E3(1) and E3(2), by making “a reference to a person or persons’ sexual orientation”.
Steele, who was sacked by City, accepted the charged and requested an FA hearing.
FA spokesman James Webb confirmed the Liverpudlian was “severely warned as to his future conduct” and fined £200.
Steele, 38, who has been turning out for Cheshire club Nantwich Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, has since apologised for the remark.
