4:53pm Friday 19th March 2010

Wallingford were crowned under 12s champions after beating Chipping Norton 5-0 in the Oxfordshire final at Stratfield Brake.
Sam Miller was Wallingford’s hero with the decisive try as they completed the tournament, which was hosted by Gosford All Blacks, without conceding a point.
In the semi-finals, Wallingford beat Marlborough (Woodstock) 15-0, while Chipping Norton edged past Cooper (Bicester) 10-5 with a golden try in extra time.
Sixteen schools battled it out in the 12-a-side competition with the winners of each four-team group making the last four.
In their group games, Wallingford beat King Alfred’s (Wantage) 10-0, Cherwell (Oxford) 15-0 and Burford 10-0.
The group runners-up went into a shield competition, with Burford beating Gillotts (Henley) 10-0 in the final.
In the semi-finals, Gillotts defeated Langtree (Woodcote) 10-0, while Burford pipped St Birinus (Didcot) 5-0.
Meanwhile, North Oxon Academy, Langtree and Icknield (Watlington) will represent Oxon in the South Emerging Schools under 12s tournament at Windsor RFC next Thursday (March 25).
On the same day, Fitzharrys (Abingdon), King Alfred’s and Wallingford fly the flag for the county in the under 13 competition at the same venue.
